This bank, giving jobs to 1000 people, started a gig-a-op campaign

Private sector Axis Bank has launched a 'Gig-a-Opportunities' initiative to provide employment to up to a thousand people in the next one year. Under this model, any talented candidate can work with a bank from any part of the country.

A bank official gave information about this. There will be two ways of working in this model - first a full-time permanent job and the second is limited to a specific period of time depending on the project.

Rajesh Dahiya, executive director (corporate center) of Axis Bank, told PTI - "We think that gigs will be big (regular) jobs." We want to make it effective like a normal job. In the next year, we will add 800–1,000 people working through this model and this is what I am calling minimum.

He said, earlier the mindset was that you have to come to the office to work, but now the concept of work from home has changed many things. Dahiya said that people had previously hesitated to work from home, but now they have got used to it and it is proving very useful. He said that the bank will look for good talent including youth, experienced middle-level professionals, and women from across the country.

The national unemployment rate reached 9 weeks peak

The unemployment rate in India reached a peak of nine weeks in the week ending August 16. These figures fit the argument of economists in which they said that the previous decline in unemployment was due to a decline in agricultural activities and that the decline was of temporary nature. The national unemployment rate reached 9.1 percent last week, down from 8.67 percent in the week ended 9 August.

The unemployment rate decreased like this after lockdown

This is revealed in the latest data from the Center of Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE). This is the fastest figure in the last nine weeks. The unemployment rate has crossed this level once again after the last 14 June.

According to CMIE data, this rate is higher than the gross unemployment rate of 7.43 percent for the whole of July and even higher than the monthly unemployment rate recorded before Kovid 19 spread its foot in the country.
